During CBS’ tribute special to Hollywood veteran actor Dick Van Dyke, several celebrities, including Jane Seymour, showed up to honor the multiple award-winning legend for his contribution to the entertainment industry.

During her speech, Jane recalled running into Van Dyke at her local grocery store, which he turned into a stage. “Well, of course, I wondered if it was really him, but then people would surround him, and he’d suddenly break out into a little song and dance,” she said.

When Jane went to the store the next day, she again met Van Dyke, who explained that his wife “always needs something.” “I said, ‘What’s going on?’ And he said, ‘She sends me out every day.’ He loved it. He turned the grocery store into his stage,” she recalled.

Jane had more to say about her Buttons: A Christmas Tale co-star and good friend, whom she posed for photos with during Halloween alongside theater star Amy Manford and musician William Joseph. “He also, by the way, does the most amazing Halloween haunted house you’ve ever seen. It’s a full-on production. And I saw him a couple of weeks ago there, and oh my God, it was so cool,” she continued.

Van Dyke acknowledged his late friends, including Norman Lear, who died of natural causes on December 5. “I once had a bunch of friends there to say nice things…but Mary Tyler Moore, Morey Amsterdam and Rose Marie, Carl Reiner, Norman Lear — all the people that I always loved and associated with are gone, so I’m having to make new friends,” he said, adding that he is glad he does not have to “go out looking” for friends as people come to him.

The actor was full of appreciation ahead of his birthday, particularly for his wife, Arlene Silver, who he says encourages his fit lifestyle and “brings me a cup of coffee in the morning.”

“I get it in bed. I get treated like a king around here,” he said. He also told People he deems himself better than most nonagenarians when it comes to fitness. “It’s so hard to work out, but I still do all the moves,” he added.
