Bette Midler Celebrates Selling Her Tesla, Calling It A ‘Symbol Of Unfairness And Greed’

Bette Midler is celebrating her newfound freedom after selling her Tesla.

“What a wonderful day!” the iconic singer shared on Instagram and Bluesky. “I sold my (gulp) Tesla!”

Despite her reputation as an environmental advocate, Midler expressed relief in parting ways with the  electric car, labeling Tesla as “a symbol of racism, greed, and ignorance” due to its association with CEO Elon Musk.

Musk’s significant influence in U.S. politics and his far-right messaging have made Tesla a target for protests since January 20. He reportedly invested nearly $3 billion to help President Donald Trump and his allies regain power, while also supporting cuts to federal programs and government jobs.

Following Trump’s reelection in November, Midler abruptly ceased her activity on X, the platform owned by Musk.

“Life is so much better!!!” she exclaimed on her other social media accounts, announcing her decision to join others in severing ties with Tesla.

Midler isn’t the only artist to publicly part ways with a vehicle associated with Musk. In February, Grammy winner Sheryl Crow shared a video of her Tesla being towed away, stating that she would donate the proceeds from the sale to NPR.

“There comes a time when you have to decide who you are willing to align with,” Crow wrote on Instagram. “Goodbye, Tesla.”

Tesla’s stock has also suffered since Musk shifted his focus to politics.

Meanwhile, Trump has used his position to encourage people to purchase Teslas, warning that anyone who damages them will face severe consequences.
